Billions Wasted On Hyped Food Products

The British Medical Journal (BMJ) has reported that obese people spend billions on food products which “imply” they aid weight loss, but which actually have no effect.

The editorial in the BMJ by Professor Lean, a nutrition expert from the University of Glasgow, hoped that new European directives coming into force in the UK would help to tackle misleading marketing.

Depression and Heart Disease Linked To Lack of Exercise

Research carried out by the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in San Francisco has found that the link between depression and heart disease may be less complex than previously thought.

As the New York Times reports:

For years cardiologists and mental health experts have known that depression raises risk for heart attack by 50 percent or more.

It hasn’t been clear before, though, why this is the case.
